This composition is for the people of more than eighty-six countries of the world, New York City, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, and beyond who have lost and still search for their friends, family and loved ones. It is also for the hundreds of millions of people who are shocked by this extreme act against innocent persons. The music begins with a remembrance and a questioning for the circumstances of our human condition in a world where each of us can disappear in an instant. This is followed by a theme describing citizens of all nations going to airports and work, unaware of the tragedy to come. Everything that morning, for these innocent people, would be done and said for the last time as they traveled toward an unknown and ominous fate. In the next section, I write about feelings of shock, anger and the sadness of loves and lives lost forever while pain lingers in a fermata of layered harmonic overtones.
